The magic of lighting
Here is a great example of the power of lighting. My husband is a photographer so I'm the default model as he tests his lighting. Note, my husband is barely getting his toes wet, imagine some of the tricks that professional photographers have up their sleeves, not to mention the power of digital editing.
Keep this in mind when you compare yourself to fashion photos. Go to the California Women's Conference photo gallery to see what I look like without all the fancy lighting. Both are the "real me" it's all a matter of light creating illusions and shadows.
